Currently developed new health technology solutions dramatically affect the system of provision of health: Telemedicine devices on the point of care and ICTs. These technological developments create new challenges for the HTA. Integrated care could be a solution not only for high-income countries but also for low and middle countries by ensuring that the patient or client is considered as the main actor of the system and the technological solutions are driven towards covering their needs. It also enables a more efficient use of funds which is critical in places where resources are scarce or limited or in those where sustainability is crucial. There are also ongoing experiences that can be shared and discussed and methodological approaches that can serve as models for different contexts. Thus the development of predictive models and risk stratification based on health consumption already used in some medical contexts the experience in models of care management the high-performance clinical microsystems etc. These aspects will be the leitmotiv of the meeting of the International Society HTAi 2012 to be held in Bilbao that puts patients at the centre of the system.
